KSMA graduate student in the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University in Melbourne, Kay is currently researching the working experiences of Australian women photojournalists.

Starting out in Editorial at The Age on the ‘Green Guide,’ she later worked at The Advocate as Secretary to the Editor. She edits educational resources, occasional papers, monographs and online publications, teaches ESL and Media Studies, and practises journalism alongside her own research.

Kay edits the Dangerous Ground project’s website at the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University. She has been in Dangerous Ground’s award winning investigative reporting team since 2011.

In 2012, Dangerous Ground’s website won the Journalism Education Association of Australia’s Ossie Award for Best Use of Convergent Media. The same year,  the Dangerous Ground project, created and run by Monash University Senior Lecturer Bill Birnbauer, won the University’s Arts Faculty Award. In 2013, the project received a Special Commendation from the Vice Chancellor for ‘Programs that Enhance Learning.’
